DID YOU KNOW????? TINA TURNER, born and raised Anna Mae Bullock in Nutbush, TN, was abandoned by her migrant worker parents. She was raised by her grandmother and worked in the cotton fields as a child. She endured a rough and very abusive marriage during which she was repeatedly beaten and raped by her husband, Ike. During their divorce hearings, she had to defend the right to even keep her name. She went on to record many number-one hits such as “Private Dancer” and “What’s Love Got To Do With It?” She has won seven Grammy® awards, has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, is listed in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and a motion picture about her life was made starring Angela Bassett.
