JOB DESCRIPTION: Cashier/Warehouse Inventory Assistant REPORTS TO: General Manager DESCRIPTION: Provide excellent customer service while performing all aspects of point of sale service - cash, credit and check sales, returns and exchanges. Assist in all warehouse operations from receiving (unloading trucks and staging product for inventory) to product placement on the warehouse floor. Specific focus on inventory of incoming materials. Provide general information to donors and respond to inquiries in a timely and professional manner. Materials should be handled and displayed in a safe, organized and accessible manner. Demonstrate professionalism at all times. Additional duties as assigned by management. QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to be self motivated, carry out directions with minimal supervision and work as a team player. Math, measurement skills, building product knowledge and spelling are required. Ability to use the internet to research product when necessary. Ability to operate warehouse equipment and point of sale terminal (cash register) required. Ability to work well with the public. Must be able to lift 50 -100 pounds. Knowledge of building materials and warehouse procedures preferred. SALARY: $9-11, salary is commensurate with experience HOURS: Up to 40 hours weekly, within Monday to Saturday, 8a – 4p, Wednesdays & Thursdays 8a-8p RESPONSIBILITIES: Safety of self, others, building and product. Cashier/Inventory/Receiving: assist inventory/receiving staff as needed or assigned 1. Accurately process transactions utilizing Point-of-Sale Terminal 2. Greet material donors professionally and properly process their donations. 3. Unload and load trucks; receive, handle incoming materials safely, avoiding breakage. 4. Place received materials in specified holding bays separated by source. 5. Inventory incoming items: assess fees, log onto proper invoices, measure, prep for floor. 6. Move all materials to their proper place on the warehouse floor once inventory is complete. 7. Place all items for disposal in proper places: trash, recycle metal, cardboard, etc. 8. Items must be marked with fees, sizes and POS #’s before bringing to floor. 9. Keep dock and truck wells swept and clear of trash. Sweep daily. Warehouse: assist section managers as needed or assigned 1. Keep warehouse clean and clear of trash, safe and aisles open. 2. Secure building, inventory and equipment against damage and theft. 3. Keep handling fees and measurements visible when moving product into sections. 4. Operate all warehouse equipment as approved: ex, forklift, pallet jack, shelving. 5. Assist clients when needed while encouraging self-help. 6. Bring in carts, product, trash and warehouse equipment at end of day, sweep daily. 7. Attend and assist in volunteer events or evenings as needed and/or assigned.
