DIDACHE WHAT’S YOUR PASSION? ...He humbled himself, - TopicsExpress

DIDACHE WHAT’S YOUR PASSION? ...He humbled himself, becoming obedient to death, even death on a cross. – Philippians 2:8 There’s one scene from The Passion of the Christ (the movie by Mel Gibson) that will forever replay in my mind. It’s that part along the Via Dolorosa, when Jesus falls under the weight of the cross but is comforted by His heartbroken Mother. The scene shows Mary, who is normally quiet and reserved, shoving her way through the angry crowd in a desperate rush to help Jesus get up from the ground. Beleaguered and bloodied, Jesus manages to look at His Mother. Despite her tears and grief, Jesus says haggardly yet with authority: “Behold, I make all things new.” A new wave of strength then comes to Him, and He lifts the cross again, trudging along on His way… to die for us. As a mother, I can relate with the passion Mary went through. That feeling of wanting to defend my child, especially when someone messes with him or hurts him in any way — that’s passion. As the Savior, Jesus’ passion at the moment that He lifted up the cross was for you and me. He carried that burden to “make all things new” for our sake, so that we could live life to the full. Martine De Luna (the.dainty.mom@gmail) Reflection: This Sunday, let’s remember Christ’s passion. In turn, let’s live passionately for His cause. We still have the rest of this Holy Week to do so. Dear Jesus, thank You for the Cross. May I bear mine as passionately as You took on Yours. Amen. St. Martin I, pope and martyr, pray for us.
