DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SPUR AND HELICAL GEAR:- i) Both spur and helical gear are circular in shape. ii) Teeth in spur gear are straight-cut, in helical it is at and angle. iii) Spur gear can be used only in parallel orientation, whereas helical gear can be used in cross-orientation. iv) Spur gears are more efficient than helical due to lesser friction. v) Helical gears produce lasser noise compared to spur gears and thus used for high speed application. vi) Spur gear are easy and are less expensive to manufacture
