DIRTY. SWEET. ACID. Just drink it all in. https://youtube/watch?v=Go9rf9GmYpM We, as artists, abhor criticism. But it really would be better to seek it and be tough enough to extrapolate and differentiate when that criticism is right, as opposed to when or even when it is just someone being mean. Truly, one could have a viable career as a bad or mediocre artist just by being known about to enough people who can buy. I know. Thats detestable to us, as real artists. People still buy acidic, sweet, dirty-colored water because it is promoted so heavily and marketed in a clever way to gullible people (coca-cola/pepsi/etc). Empirical and obvious; personal taste being what it is. Most art doesnt have its own legs to run. Once in a great while an artist will create something that does grow legs and is so well-recieved that it tends to be passed along. Sometimes entire careers are made on just that one artwork. But most art is not like that. Even from really good artists. It has to be pushed and promoted. Most of us are snobby as artists and seek to perfect our craft to our own standards, even when it means starving. Or promote so little to have any effect which is either insecurity or just lack of a proper budget and plan. Your art needs to be promoted. And it needs to be done in a clever way to get the attention it deserves. ______________________ Just look at what Pepsi has to do to get people to look at it -- its not even for sale at that location. But thats what they do. businessinsider/pepsi-ad-shocks-londoners-2014-3 ______________________ Meanwhile, practice, practice, practice. Drill, drill, drill. Rehearse, rehearse, rehearse. And always keep creating. People need art. It unburdens. And unburdened people make the world a better place. Keep creating. :-)
