DIS GRACE SEF! My chairman wants to see you, someone whispered into my ears after church service as I picked up my bag to leave. I turned to the direction of the voice in utter disgust. He repeated himself. Please dont be offended but my chairman would like a word with you. He asked that I bring you to him. Who is your chairman I asked - it was the least I could do. You should know him, he answered with pride, he is one of those men who seat on the front row in the sanctuary. He saw you dance past when you went to the altar with your tithes. He has been unable to take his eyes off you. Ahhhhhhhhh indeed as the bible says, judgment will begin in the house of God. Before I could say anymore, his phone rang, he answered and handed it to me. My princess, the voice on the other end said, my most beautiful, please have lunch with me. I have so much to say to you. My security aide will bring you to me my lady please. You wont regret knowing me. But Sir, this is a church I almost yelled out. Yes it is a church he said but where else can I meet you. Without much pressure from him but out of sheer curiosity, I obliged him. After all, what harm can an elder do? I recognized him the moment I saw him. One of those referred to as the bourgeois in church. The cheerful givers. My lady he said, you are beautiful. I saw you dance past and could not take my eyes off your waist...o your waist hmmmm chaii! I love the way your hips sit on your legs. Your legs, strong legs...Oh my God! he said as he licked his lips with his tongue. He whispered sweet nothings and asked why he had not seen me in church until today. But Sir you are an elder in church I started... but he cut me short with his limited understanding of the scripture we are but flesh. We are all saved by grace. It is not by our works or by our power. Even the angels on assignment fell when they saw the bosom and fairness of women on earth. If spiritual beings can fall, who am I, a mere mortal. We can only do our part. God does the rest. He quoted the Scriptures that justified his action. As I sat through lunch, my thoughts were everywhere and especially on the word of God that says we should beware of such men of God who love themselves more than they love God. They have a form of godliness but deny the power thereof... they creep into houses, and lead silly women... away with diverse lust. we are saved by grace, by grace, by grace, not works, the elder reminded me, like he is the only one that knows that bit of the bible. True, the bible says we are saved by grace not works but we are saved unto good works. He obviously has not read that passage to the end. Most of us are victims to this. We sin willfully under the delusion that we cant struggle to do the will of God for to struggle is works. We hide under the sayings of Apostle Paul that the things we dont want to do, we find ourselves doing. We recite the popular theme shall we continue to sin that grace might abound and the part that says where sin abounds, grace abounds even more...and stop there without reading that verse that says God forbid! How can we that are dead to sin continue in sin. But whether we ascribe the extra effort we need to do the will of God to works under the law which has been abolished, we must remember the parable of the 10 virgins, the Bible describes 5 of them as wise and 5 of them as foolish. The ten of them had been chosen from millions of virgins. (emphasis, mine) to accompany the bridegroom. They all went with lamps but the wise ones took extra oil. The bridegroom tarried. The virgins slept off. Their lamps ran out of oil. The foolish ones begged the wise ones for some oil but they declined and advised them to go to the sellers to buy more. While they were gone, the bridegroom arrived and went in with wise virgins and shut the door. The foolish virgins came back, realized what had happened and begged the bridegroom to let them in. He told them to go away that he knew them not. From the above parable, we can deduce the following; the 10 virgins had been fortunate to be among those chosen to go with the bridegroom. (The 10 virgins are born again Christians like us that have been saved by grace not by our effort or works). They were made fortunate by grace. It was not by works that they were chosen from the millions of virgins. Without any work on their part, they were chosen by grace and by grace they all had a lamp. But the wise virgins went the extra mile and prepared for the journey. (Works). The foolish virgins relied on grace alone. After all, they had a lamp with oil. The wise virgins put in works and their work was what saved them. As always, lets remember that heaven and hell is real. Let us remember that we have a lamp like the 10 virgins and we are all waiting for the bridegroom to come. Let us all know that what we have in our lamp and the vessel (our works) is what we will be judged on. like the virgins we will get tired and sleep off on this journey. To sleep off is to backslide for some, for others they sleep off because they are tired and weary from praying and waiting on earthly promises that may never come. But whenever we wake up the extra effort or works we have deliberately prepared is what will carry us through. The extra effort to pray, to fast, to meditate on the word God day and night and to remain steadfast in doing good are the works that will carry us through. These are hard works. We must work now while it is day for night cometh when no man can work as the bible says. Whether we work or not, or decide to wait on grace and God to do the rest, we will all stand before the judgment seat of God and be judged on our works whether good or bad. As the bible says I saw the dead, small and great stand before God and the books were opened and another book was opened, which is the book of life and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. There are two books from which we will be judged. One is the book of life where our names must be written and the other the book of works. Grace has enabled our names to be on the book of life but grace cannot write our names in the book of works. God will not change because we have become modernized Christians. He remains a God of love of righteousness and of judgment. May the holy spirit grant us understanding for the letter killeth. We will succeed in Jesus name. Good Morning
