(DISCLAIMER: What I am presenting is a valid, and sound logical argument as well as showing the common misconception regarding cosmogony that may cause cognitive dissonance in some people.) The Universe didnt come from anything but itself. By definition it cant. The idiocy is appalling, even amongst intelligent and well learned people. The issue here is with the ubiquitous misuse of the word Universe to denote the OBSERVABLE Universe as oppose to the traditional notion of it that denotes an all encompassing reality, and hence the erroneous conflation. Another issue that adds to this confusion is with the untenable presumption that everything must necessarily come from a source that is distinct from it or outside it. (You can blame this on the religious orthodoxy as well as certain short sighted but influential philosophers.)
