DISCLAIMER: You will not find an agenda for or against the church - TopicsExpress

DISCLAIMER: You will not find an agenda for or against the church in my post. If you read one into it, know none is intended. --- I have not researched all the facts in this article, but I think the general observation is accurate. I never, ever thought I would be among those whose heart would guide their life path outside of the church. I respect and honor those who are faithful in the church, and I empathize and understand those who like me have left But most of all my heart goes out to those who are in-between: struggling to find real harmony and consonance between what they have learned in church and the issues (spiritual, doctrinal, historical, organizational etc.) that rend them unable to make any sense of what is true. That cognitive dissonance for me started a few months into my mission (2007) and the following three years were the most painful of my life. In early 2010 I was all but suicidal and I was diagnosed by an LDS clinical psychologist with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, caused by the way these questions tormented me whilst serving my two-year mission. Four years late, I am so grateful to be able to say my soul is truly at peace. This was my journey, and where it led. I sincerely hope those of my LDS friends struggling with this balance can find inner peace as well - whether inside the church, outside of it, or at some calm haven in between.
