DISSECTING THE PHILIPPINE FLAG. (what do the symbols REALLY mean) SUN: represents the independence and eight rays represents the eight provinces (Manila, Cavite, Bulacan, Batangas, Laguna, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija and Pampanga) that led the Philippine uprising against Spanish rule. STAR: represent the three main geographical regions of the Philippines: Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. The unity of separated people and culture into ONE NATION. WHITE: stands for peace and purity. The triangular shape represents equality and the Katipunan nationalist organization (emblem of KKK). BLUE: symbolizes patriotism and justice. RED: represents valor and the blood split for freedom and independence. 3 COLOR (white, red, blue): adapted from american flag as a "manifestation of our profound gratitude" -Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo.
