DIVINE APPOINTMENT: As many of you know I have been in Burma and the situation is somewhat tenuous for Christians. A law is being considered to make all religious conversions approved by the government. The Buddhist are slaughtering Muslims and there is a terrorist group that is seeking out Muslims to murder them. I am told that Christians will be next. One wealthly man has dedicated his fortune to eradicating all religious adherents other than Buddhist. I was warned not to pass out Christian tracts for Buddhist for fear of retribution on our pastors here. You see, the tract relates the true story of a Buddhist monk who was given a Bible not long ago by one of missionaries and turned to the Savior. The tract tells of the Savior that Buddha wrote about who would come. Our hotel in Yangon was swarmed by an army of Buddhist monks from Sri Lanka here to ascertain the state of Buddhism here, and teach and shore up the Burmese Buddhists. I was told that some may have terrorist links. I had tried to witness to a group of them in the elevator before I knew how dangerous it was, and recited John 3:16 in Burmese to them, told them in Burmese that I was a Christian and handed them a Buddhist monk tract in Burmese. THANK THE LORD that they didn speak Burmese and politely handed the forbiddden tract back. Welll, on their last day I was eating in the hotel restaurant when for some reason one of their leaders a teacher of meditation came to my table and asked why I was here. I was a little anxious, but he sat down to talk to me. The only reason I think he did so was that it was my habit to pray and recite Scripture each day on the top floor of the hotel which is where many of them stayed and had engaged them in the elevator. Anyway. we engaged in a fairly lengthy discussion of his faith. I asked if he were seeking truth and he said yes. I told him I had found it in our Savior. He said that he wanted to be a God someday and was seeking perfection independent of God on his own journey. I asked if he were a sinner and he agreed he was. God put it on my heart to then ask him how could a sinful imperfect being of his own accord find perfection aside from God.. His mouth wa stopped and the Lord allowed me to tell him about our Savior, who, if we repent of our sins and trust him as Savior, is faithful and just to forgive us and come and abide in us, his spirit perfecting us. He told me how when he died he would be alone without people he knew. I told him about heaven where we as Christians will spend eternity at the feet of our Holy Savior. He said he had three Bibles. But we know that the natural man receiveth not the things of the spirit of God. Pray for Ananda, that he will turn from a life of idolatry and dead idols and a road to Hell to the grace of our Savior.
