DIVISIONS IN THE UMMAH those who talk about unity with deviants should ponder on these Ahaadees of Allahs Habeeb Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam Narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah RadiyAllahu Anhu: The Messenger of Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said: The Jews separated into 71 sects, and the Christians into 72, and My nation will divide into 73 sects. (Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah) The Beloved Habeeb Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said: Seventy-two (of the 73 sects of the Muslim nation) will be in the fire, and only one will be in Paradise; it is the Jamaah (i.e. Ahle Sunnah Wa Jamaah). (Abu Dawud, Ad-Darimi, Ahmad) The Holy Prophet Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said: “The Jews split into 71 groups; one will enter Paradise and 70 will enter Hell. The Christians split into 72 groups; 71 will enter Hell and one will enter Paradise. By Him in Whose Power is the life of Muhammad, without doubt, my Ummah will be divided into 73 groups. Only one will enter Paradise and 72 will enter Hell.” When asked which group will be on the right path, the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) replied: “The main (al-Jamaah) body of the Muslims.” (Ibne Majah Kitab al-Fitan) The Holy Prophet Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said: “There was disagreement amongst Jews and they split into 72 groups. In exactly the same way, there will be disagreement and divisions in my Ummah. It will split into 73 groups. Apart from one of those groups, all the remaining 72 will be thrown into Hell.” When asked which group will be on the right path, the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) replied: “The group on the right path, which will enter Paradise, will be the group which follows my Sunnah and that of my Sahaba.” (Tirmizi, Abu Daud, Mishkat) It should be clear from these Ahaadees that the one sect, is the Ahle Sunnah Wa Jamaah the only segment of the Muslim community which adheres to that which the Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam and His Companions RadiyAllahu Anhum adhered to.
