DJs dont like requests. This is not because they dont want to - TopicsExpress

DJs dont like requests. This is not because they dont want to cater to the crowd. Its because they were HIRED to do a job by the venue (i.e set the vibe). If the DJ isnt playing what you want to hear, maybe youre in the wrong spot. 95% of DJ requests are asinine. BUT if you absolutely HAVE to make a request, here are a few rules to go by: 1. Any request without a tip is considered a suggestion. Suggestions are easily forgotten. 2. Any tip less than $5 is a suggestion. *see rule 1 3. Some DJs will accept drinks as tips. Some wont. Ask before you come over with a random drink. 4. NEVER EVER include your request with the word NEXT or anything similar. EVER! That shit is just rude. There are no dance floor emergencies that will be saved by your request. The DJ will work it in if/when he/she feels its appropriate. ALSO! DJs/Establishments dont care that you are leaving. The fact that you have decided to stop spending money in the establishment is all the more reason not to ruin the vibe to cater to your needs. *see rule 1 5. NEVER utter the words Play something we can dance to. or Play something uptempo unless you have an idea of what song you want to dance to or actually know what the word uptempo means. House Music is uptempo. 2 Chainz is NOT! Turn Up & Uptempo do NOT mean the same thing. Saying those words to a DJ is insulting. 9 times out of 10, people are dancing. Youre just in the wrong place. *see 1st paragraph. Pick a song, ask for it & keep it moving. 6. KEEP YOUR DRUNK FRIENDS AWAY FROM THE DJ BOOTH! I know shes a handful when she drinks. But its not the DJs job to babysit her & cater to her drunken needs. 7. The DJ is not just standing there waiting for your requests. Make ONE request! By the 3rd request (with no tip) the DJ thinks youre an ass. *see rule 1
