DO NOT COME AND ADD SALT TO OUR INJURY! Do you know that the situation in the BAY (Borno Adamawa, Yobe) states of the North East region is at it peak? A situation where almost all the citizens have abandoned their homes, businesses and farmlands and resorted to living in camps and depending on relatives in other neighboring states! Gombe State is presently hosting thousands of these victims of the Boko Haram crisis. Do we care to know the implication of having these people and not showing enough remorse to their plight? The economic and social burden is enough a weight on our state, we must pay much attention to the situation than working hard in hosting political activities in favor of just an individual. I am talking about the ongoing preparing to receive President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan who is billed to honour the North East PDP rally in Gombe some days to come. Why do we insist on making mistakes and still expect beautiful results? Beside, political gathering of such type is full of utterances that could hurt the injured or victims of the insecurity in the region. We like it or not, President Goodluck has failed our region, he was here during the economic summit and made promises to assist the region with N2 billion, no single kobo was given to date. The hundreds of Billions of Naira under the name, Victims Support Funds realized recently are stashed in Banks account when victims are sleeping under open roofs, dying of hunger and diseases. So, why do we want to set a stage for him to come and dance on our sorrow? Also, there is health implication in this national gathering, if Federal Government will compulsorily extend the childrens holidays for the fear of Elebo which may likely spread easier as a result of interactions between those coming from or going through places during holidays, why do we allow political gathering consist of people moving freely from Ebola prone areas to Ebola free zones simply because, it is a campaign which will favor the President or what? Are the entire people that will be attending the rally be screened or quarantined? Pls be reasonable! I wish to state that the Government of Gombe State must kindly reasoned with the plight of the victims and also see the implication of hosting such gathering at this moment of Ebola season. Inasmuch as, we all know and agree with the reasons why such political gathering cannot be held in Maiduguri, let us also understand why it should not be allowed in Gombe. For those politicians that will take this write-up to their advantage, you must also know that you are also playing with the lives of the victims and innocent citizens.
