DO NOT US GREYHOUND BUS LINES I walked in to the greyhound station Dallas TX 8/1/14 purchased a ticket to Olympia WA Arriving 8/3/14 and that ticket cost me $232.50 and well YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE WHAT I WENT THROUGH. This trip was supposed to have 2 transfers because of your company and drivers I actually changed buses 6 times, 2 drivers got lost 1 of those drivers got fired, one driver got so lost she ended up in a residential area. TO TOP IT OFF we arrived in Centralia WA at about 2:30pm where there was a hot deli, there were 3 drivers one driving the bus and 2 who were transferring to another route the driver driving the bus stopped for only 15 minutes and instructed all passengers to stay on the bus, while him and the other 2 drivers left the bus supposedly to pick up package they came back with hot food and drinks, no packages there were at least 5 children under the age of 5 and 4 Elderly people which definitely needed food as the last meal stop was at 3am that morning in Phoenix AZ it was supposed to be a 1 hour 10 min stop and there was a convenience store, the bus stopped for only 15 minutes, Upon Arriving in Olympia WA at about 3:00pm only those who’s destination point was Olympia WA were allowed to leave the bus there was a 1 soda machine 1 snack machine, the bus was there for only 5 minutes and again the last time anybody on that bus may have had food was 3am that morning. I informed the Customer Service Representative about that issue and her reply was we do inform everybody to bring snacks with you because it is up to the drivers when you eat, my reply was not informed that when I booked my ticket and it is not printed on the tickets. It seems to me that your company should be setting the policy for meals stops and ensuring the drivers stick to it the only stops that should be cut short and the drivers should have the authority to cut short are non-meal stops. While I was in Washington visiting my family I had my representative payee book my return trip to Dallas TX using the direct express card my Social Security Disability Benefits are deposited on and apparently just because her name has to be on the card and my name has to be on the ticket I got charged an $18 gift certificate fee I feel the amount of the fee is unreasonable and the fact you charge one is unreasonable. Instead of paying the Advance Purchase Rate of $109 I paid $129. On my trip back home you had a really good 2 hour 35 min meal stop/layover in Salt Lake UT at 5:40pm at a greyhound station and there was a restaurant however the restaurant was closed if your buses run on Sunday your restaurants should be open on Sunday. The next meal stop was in Amarillo TX it was a 1 hour 25 minute meal stop and there was a restaurant it was closed because the computer was down and the bus departed at 9:00pm instead of 7:30pm. That restaurant needs to have a non-computerized cash register for back up and take cash so it can stay open. Especially when your buses are routinely running late. Late buses seem to be par for the course for your company I do give some your driverss credit for working to make up lost time however the next bus is usually driven by a driver who appears to be working towards running late. One 3 day trip has 8 meal stops only one of those stops had an establishment (Chevron Station) that took EBT, so all I got to eat that whole trip was 1 20oz soda $3.75 and one premade egg salad sandwich $5.79 total $9.59 that is pretty sad and inconsiderate to take advantage of those on a low and fixed income, why should they have to use what little cash they might have if any for food when they should be able to use their food stamp/EBT benefits, and why should they have to carry an extra bag with food. Your company needs to remember al lot of your customers/passengers are on low/fixed incomes and because of that they receive food stamps, they use your bus lines because you do offer the most reasonable fares, however when they have to pay $3.75 for a 20z coke and $5.79 for premade egg salad sandwich and pay cash at a convenience store because it does not take EBT/Food Stamp cards that eats into any savings they make and in most cases they will choose not to eat, please note EBT/Food Stamp cards are not accepted at fast food or even sit down restaurants, and cannot be used in vending machine, however convenience stores can take EBT/Food Stamp cards if they choose to but most on your routes choose not, you need to seriously consider replacing vending machines with a small snack stand with cold foods set up to take EBT/Food Stamps and require the convenience store you contract you allow to be at your bus stops to take EBT/Food Stamps. Some of the convenience stores are actually rude to your passengers if they even mention EBT/Food Stamps, there is no need for that. I do see that you offer a discount to Senior Citizens however you do not offer one to the Disabled most disabled are on a low fixed income being Social Security Disability of Social Security Supplemental Income. I do find this questionable from a human rights point of view on behalf of the disabled. Overall all both trips sucked, I paid a total of $361.50 for my tickets, I feel I most definitely overpaid by $18 for the trip home to Dallas TX and $123.50 for the other trip to WA considering the nightmare it tuned into and the fact I had one meal in 3 days on both trips, All in all I feel I overpaid by $131.50 and feel I should get some of that money back. I have been using Greyhound since age of 26 years I am now 50 in all those years I have never had trip as bad as the last 2 trips. It seems your rates are going up and your customer service and customer consideration is rapidly going down. If I can help it I will never use Greyhound again I will opt for a plane or Amtrak and I do intend to tell any who will listen DO NOT USE GREYOUND. I am willing to submit to you my itinerary and tickets for both trips if you feel you need them.
