DO YOU KNOW; A BRIEF HISTORY OF POPE FRANCIS: Pope francis was born in jorge mario bergogllo on 17th December, 1936 is the 266th pope and current pope of the Catholic Church. Following the resignation of his predecessor, Pope Benedict XVI, on the 28th february, 2013. The conciave elected Bergogllo, who close the papal name francis in honour of Saint Francis of Assis. He was elected on 13th march, 2013. He is 76years old, a native of Buenos Aries, Argentina, he was ordained as a priest in 1969. He is both head of the church and sovereign of the holy see. He served as head of the society of jesus in Argentina from 1972 to 1979. In 1998 he became the Archbishop of Buenos Aries, and in 2001 a cardinal.
