DO YOU KNOW SOMEONE WHO IS CHAINING A DOG? IF SO, HAVE THEM READ THIS PLEA FROM A FRIEND. I had to vent today as I rode by a house near my work and saw a puppy no more than five-months-old who was chained and couldnt move. I knocked on the door asked them to please help their dog. (They slammed the door.) So I wrote a letter to the editor of the newpaper. What good it will do, I dont know, but I feel a little better. When will the chaining of animals outside stop?!! It hurts my heart so much to ride by day after day and see dogs on chains without proper shelter, food and water. I so wish that every person who chose to chain their dog outside was forced to be chained for twenty-four hours just to see what it feels like. They say dogs dont have feelings; I beg to differ. As I volunteer at my local shelter, I see the condition of dogs, both physically and emotionally, when they are exposed to such treatment. All they want is to give love and to be loved, and they are always loyal no matter what. I want to be their voice because they have no voice. Our state and county laws need to change. Chaining dogs outside is animal cruelty plain and simple. What will it hurt to change the laws to help mans best friend? What is it going to take? When will people realize the reason dogs can get aggressive and hurt someone is due in part to being chained!! Dogs choking themselves to death and dying from the elements because they were tied up and got hung and didn’t have access to food or water, if any was even there. Who cares?! I do. Please wake up and do something for these poor, defenseless animals and make people be responsible and take proper care of their animals. If you cant afford a fence and can’t keep or dont want to keep dogs in the house, don’t get a dog!! Its that simple.
