DOWNTOWN CROSSING: LOOK AHEAD LOUISVILLE, Ky. (October 22, 2013) – The following closures and lane restrictions are expected this week and next week in connection with construction on the Downtown Crossing: Work Currently Underway: Louisville Streets: · Lane restrictions are expected on Witherspoon Street from Preston Street to Adams Street through Saturday, November 2 for utility work and pile driving. One lane of traffic will be open in each direction. · The right lane of Witherspoon Street from Adams Street to River Road is scheduled to be closed through Saturday, October 26. Flaggers will be used at times to control traffic in one lane. · The left lane of Main Street from Hancock Street to Jackson Street is scheduled to be closed through Wednesday, October 30 for work on retaining walls. · The right lane and right parking lane on Market Street from Jackson Street to Hancock Street are scheduled to be closed through Wednesday, October 30 for abutment work. · The two left lanes and the left parking lane on Jefferson Street from Jackson Street to Preston Street are scheduled to close overnight Tuesday, October 22-Thursday, October 24 for abutment work. The lanes will close around 7 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. · The right lane and right parking lane on Preston Street from Jefferson Street to Liberty Street are scheduled to close overnight Tuesday, October 22-Thursday, October 24 for abutment work. The lanes will close around 7 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. · Jackson Street from Jefferson Street to Market Street is scheduled to be closed through this afternoon (Tuesday, October 22) for abutment work. · Lane restrictions are expected on Market Street from Hancock Street to Jackson Street through this afternoon (Tuesday, October 22) for pile driving. One lane of traffic will be open in each direction. Work Scheduled for This Week: Kentucky Side: Work scheduled to begin Tuesday, October 22: · The ramp from I-71 South to I-64 West is scheduled to close overnight Tuesday, October 22 for temporary striping. It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. · The left lane of I-64 East from 9th Street to the I-71 North ramp is scheduled to close overnight Tuesday, October 22-Friday, October 25 for temporary striping and earthwork. It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. each day. · The right lane of I-65 South from Witherspoon Street to Jefferson Street is scheduled to close overnight Tuesday, October 22-Thursday, October 24 for demolition work in the area. It’s expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. each day. Continuing Closures and Restrictions: Kentucky Side: · The ramp from I-64 East to I-65 South closed July 15 and is scheduled to be closed through the spring of 2016. · The right lane of I-65 South from the Jefferson Street ramp to Muhammad Ali Boulevard closed July 15 and is scheduled to be closed through 2016. Indiana Side: · Broadway Street has closed from Court Avenue to 6th Street. This includes the closure of the 6th Street ramp to I-65 North. These are permanent closures. · 7th Street has closed from Missouri Avenue to Broadway Street. This is a permanent closure. · VFW Boulevard has closed from 7th Street to 9th Street. This is a permanent closure. · US 31-South (Exit Ramp 1) from Brown Station Way to Stansifer Avenue has been reduced to two lanes. · US 31-South, in the area just south of Stansifer Avenue, has been reduced to one lane. Vehicles are still able to exit onto 10th Street. The actual starting date and duration for the work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen activities occur.
