DR SYLVIA BLYDEN, DR ADONIS ABBOUD, NURSE AGNES FORNAH HONOURED AS UNITED SIERRA LEONE EBOLA CHAMPIONS Dr Sylvia Blyden, Dr Adonis Abboud and Nurse Agnes Fornah were among United Sierra Leone supporters and campaigners honoured and recognised today for for their tireless efforts in supporting and working with the United Sirra Leone to prevent and stop ebola, advocating for young people and reaching out to ebola orphans, survivors, disabled people and marginalised groups. United Sierra Leone campaigner, Dr Adonis Abboud of Pikin Buziness/DSTV, Mrs Agnes Fornah of the Messeh Leone Foundation and Miss Sierra Leone Margaret Murray were together with the Deputy Minister of Health, Hon. Madina Rahman and United Sierra Leone campaigners at Hastings ebola centre to engage with and presented donations to ebola orphans and survivors who were today discharged from the Hastings Centre last week. With support from the Messeh Leone Foundation and Pikin Biznessu, United Sierra donated food and non-food items including hygiene stuff to Handicapped Youth Association, Milton Margai School for the Blind School in Freetown, and Hastings Ebola Treatment Centre, part of #NeverAgainEbola campaign to be replicated across the Sierra Leone. The campaign has inspired and engaged and inspired people and organisations from across Sierra Leone and abroad, with thousands of campaigners and followers reaching out to millions of people across the world. Dr Blyden was a keynote speaker and leading advocate for the Youth of Sierra Leone at the Ebola Conference held in London at Chatham House on the 20th January 2015, on the theme: ‘’The Socio-Economic Consequences of Ebola in Sierra Leone: Challenges and Prospects for Youth. The conference , which was chaired by Alex Vines , Head of Africa Programme, Chatham House , featured high profile speakers including: H.E. Edward M. Turay, High Commissioner of Sierra Leone to the United Kingdom, Layne Robinson, Head of Youth Programmes Section at the Commonwealth Secretariat, and George Hodgson, Head of Ebola Taskforce, Foreign & Commonwealth Office.
