DR UCHECHUKWU SAMPSON OGAH. THE MAN OF THE PEOLE FOR ABIA STATE GOVERNOR COME 2015. Time for Ndi Abia to emancipate the state by ensuring that we avoid having a chauvinist as governor come 2015. We need a young, creative and dynamic leader, one with the capacity to help the state realize it’s full potentials. I have seen one of the candidates from Abia that I believe will do well for the state. I am really not bothered which political party he he will be contesting in and I don’t care if there is zoning, all I care is that the best man should lead my state come 2015. And of all the candidates that have indicated interest so far, I am for Dr Uche Ogah. Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, OON, FCA is the President of one of Africa’s fastest-growing conglomerates Masters Energy Group. His group of companies has interests in banking, aviation, shipping, agriculture, construction, insurance and security. Dr. Uche Ogah is 44 years old this year and was born to Chief Wilson and Ezinne Pauline Ogah of Onuaku Uturu, Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State. Uche Ogah ‘s profile has risen since he left the banking sector with about 16 years’ experience and established Masters Energy Oil & Gas Company in 2007. Today, the company has other subsidiaries providing employment opportunity to over 6,000 workers. Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, is a Fulbright scholar, he holds Masters of Business Administration (MBA) University of Lagos, Bachelor of Science (Banking & Finance) from Ogun State University, Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) from University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) and HND (Distinction) in Accountancy from the prestigious Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu. Dr. Uchechukwu Ogah has received: National Award, Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), an Honourary Doctorate Degree in Business Administration, Pride of Abia and Oke Oji of Abia among many other awards. He was a distinguished banker and spent over 15 years in the banking sector. As a banker he received many commendations and awards being proof of his diligence and high rated performance. He resigned from Zenith Bank as an Assistant General Manager. Someone once described Dr Uche Ogah as a man with courage and a go-getter, one who sees the future and always creates the enabling environment for a better possible direction. This man single handily transformed his community, built houses for people and gave employment to youths. Uche Ogah ranks among the most distinguished industrialists/nationalists who have considered taking development to their home towns as he established the almost-ready-for-commissioning ultra-modern Petro-Chemical Industry (worth billions) beside the Onuaku Wonderland in Uturu just to give development and job creation opportunities within the South-East. He is an indefatigable master, a quintessential man, full of wisdom and charisma, fast in thinking, simple and a believer in collective ideas. Like every other man of action, Dr. Uche Ogah would have his own shortcomings. But he never commits the greatest of all life’s errors which is corruption or doing nothing in the face of injustice and oppression. On the balance, however, we will record Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah as one of the nation’s truly great men, a role model of our time. He is not just humane by conviction; he demonstrates humanity by the cause he has totally devoted his life to. Those who have been assigned the arduous task of leadership can find ample lessons from the likes of Dr. Uche Ogah to teach other Nigerians how to make the pursuit of social justice and equity a purpose of life. Asked what he will do to restore the state starting with Aba, he said ‘’Aba people are known generally for their resolute spirit of enterprise, industry and commerce. The moribund state-owned industries will be resuscitated, while farming settlements will be mechanised to reduce the current wastages of farm produce being presently experienced, before the products get to the market. Furthermore, several Small and Medium Scale industries and industrial complexes will be set up and/or supported to be established in different parts of the state by industrialists. Incentives will be laid on the table to attract potential investors. The youths of Abia will be meaningfully engaged in these industries. Consequently, their practical technical skills will be sharpened, as they imbibe good work ethics. The resultant effect of these moves will be the massive industrialization of the state and job creation’’ Dr. Uchechukwu Ogah has promised to run a government that will be economically viable and self- sustaining without being dependent on revenue allocation from the Federation Account to survive. This he said will be achieved by running a highly industrialised state that will target the patronage of over 160 million Nigerians and beyond. He hopes to achieve this based on people’s strong-minded spirit of enterprise, industry and commerce. Dr Ogah says he will make commerce and industry a focal point of his leadership, by creating enabling environment for micro, Small and Medium Enterprises to thrive in Abia-land. Dr Ogah believes that ‘’the closest thing to being cared for is to care for others’’. Speaking about our morals as a people he said ‘’as Abians we adore life and try to fill each day with positive thoughts. We have common morals, norms and Values, which makes us God’s own people. In this view we cannot betray that, as it explains who we are and what we stand for. This is important to US” Dr Ogah is soft and human but as someone said, I do not think being quiet means that he cannot take hard decisions and follow it through, otherwise he would not have succeeded in the Nigerian business environment. Dr. Ogah, is the President of Uche Ogah Foundation, a role model to Nigerian students, youths, politicians and church leaders due to his passion for things of God . He joined the Scripture Union (SU) in 1986/87 as a young dynamic student with high hopes for a brighter future, which has given him the good opportunity to offer himself as a sacrifice to God’s work in great humility. A charming personality who is always ready to show appreciation to God Almighty at any point in time , DR Uche Ogah’s non-tribalistic nature can be seen from the ethnic composition of his various business’. Dr Ogah is a good listener and relates to people without considering their level, age and social status. His philanthropy has delivered and raised many souls from grass to grace. He is from a family of eight male and only one female. Abia and Nigeria needs such men of ideas and goodwill to lead at this time. AND FOR ME, DR UCHE OGAH IS GOOD FOR ABIA.
