DRBA Commissioners Cup Awarded to Cape Henlopen Vikings Local Mayors Participate in Trophy Presentation at Lewes Terminal LEWES-Del.- Lower Township Mayor Michael Beck, Lewes Mayor Ted Becker, Cape Henlopen High School Athletic Director Bob Cilento joined with Delaware River and Bay Authority (DRBA) Vice Chairman Bill Lowe and DRBA Commissioner Jim Ford for a brief ceremony to award the DRBA Commissioners Cup to victorious Cape Henlopen Vikings high school football team. Making good on a pre-game friendly wager, Mayor Michael Beck traveled aboard the Cape May – Lewes Ferry to meet Lewes Mayor Ted Becker for lunch. The ceremony took place on the Lewes Ferry Terminal patio overlooking the Delaware Bay. On Sat. Sept. 13, the Cape Henlopen Vikings bested the Lower Cape May Regional Caper Tigers in a varsity football game to claim the 2014 DRBA Commissioners Cup. The game took place at Legends Stadium, the home of the Cape Henlopen Vikings. Separated by the Delaware Bay and a short trip aboard the Cape May – Lewes Ferry, the schools renewed their football rivalry in 2010. The Cape Schools hadn’t played in the regular season since the early 1980s. Cape Henlopen now leads the series, 2-1.
