DREAMS AND NIGHTMARES By Pastor James Fadele at the Nigeria Prays program on 08/31/14 Genesis 42:6-9 And Joseph was the governor over the land, and he it was that sold to all the people of the land: and Josephs brethren came, and bowed down themselves before him with their faces to the earth. And Joseph saw his brethren, and he knew them, but made himself strange unto them, and spake roughly unto them; and he said unto them, Whence come ye? And they said, From the land of Canaan to buy food. And Joseph knew his brethren, but they knew not him. And Joseph remembered the dreams which he dreamed of them, and said unto them, Ye are spies; to see the nakedness of the land ye are come. MAY ALL YOUR NIGHTMARES BE SILENCED! MAY ALL YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE! EVERY ENEMY OF NIGERIA WILL BOW! On 02/15/1947, due to pilot error, a plane crashed killing fifty-three people on board! This was the deadliest aviation accident as at that time! Glen Chambers was one of its victims; a lifelong dream suddenly aborted into a nightmare! Have you ever had a dream that turned into a nightmare? Beloved, nightmares can turn into pleasant moments. Joseph’s dreams turned into a nightmare and caused him much trouble with his brothers. He (Joseph) passed through the following P’s: - Preferred by his father - Pit - Pharaoh’s house - Prison - Palace - Prime Minister Joseph’s dreams came true. WILL NIGERIA SURVIVE THE NIGHTMARE? THE NIGERIAN DREAM: This is captured in the Nigerian National Anthem. A “Nigerian” owns the shares that own many big airports including Gatwick airport in London. A “Nigerian” lady is the Supreme Court judge in California. In the 50’s, University College Ibadan in Nigeria was so reputable that by the 60’s American medical school graduates sought to complete their residency there! THE NIGHTMARE: Freedom in Nigeria now depends on which dictionary you are looking at. In 2004, Fifty-four percent of Nigerians are living in abject poverty. By 2010, that number increased to sixty percent! Joseph’s enemies were internal (his brothers). THE ENEMIES OF NIGERIA ARE INTERNAL!!! Joseph survived his nightmare. NIGERIA WILL SURVIVE HER NIGHTMARE!!! THE DREAMS OF NIGERIA WILL NOT DIE!!! How can we survive the nightmare? OPTIONS FOR WHEN DREAMS TURN INTO NIGHTMARES: When faced with a “nightmare-situation” such as the one in Nigeria, one can give up, query God, blame God, or do the three things Joseph did to survive the nightmare. THREE (3) S’s JOSEPH DID TO SURVIVE THE NIGHTMARE - Stand alone - Stand with God - Stand for God STAND ALONE: Joseph had to stand alone and be different from others. The churches in Nigeria must be the “Joseph”. Beloved, you can’t be a “Joseph” and behave like a “Reuben”!!! Genesis 50:19 And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God? The churches in Nigeria are not different from everyone else. Christians in Nigeria are no longer standing alone. YOU SHOULDN’T COMPLAIN ABOUT SOMETHING YOU PERMIT!!! STAND WITH GOD: Joseph enjoyed Divine presence everywhere he was. Gen. 39:2 And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. How can a slave be a prosperous man? Beloved, it was because HE STOOD WITH GOD!!! 2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. STAND FOR GOD: Joseph stood for God. When confronted with the seductions of Pharaoh’s why, he said “How can I do this great wickedness and sin against God?(Genesis 39:9) Hebrews 1:9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. HOW THEN CAN WE FULFILL THE NIGERIAN DREAM? Joseph had a dream of greatness and lifting. This became a reality when he became a solution to the problem of the land. His brethren who did not dream had no direction and moved in the direction of the wind. Non-dreamers will always be BENEATH those who dream. Eyes that see are rare. Everyone looks but only few see. MAY YOU BEGIN TO “SEE”!!! Dreamers are deciders of events, venturers, and risk-takers. Dreamers are rugged and undaunted. Beloved, CLOSE YOUR EYES AND DREAM!!! HOW THEN CAN NIGERIA BECOME A SOLUTION? When the only functional hospitals, shelters, or schools BELONG TO THE CHURCH, we are becoming a solution in our land. When all the best roads LEAD TO THE CHURCHES, we are becoming a solution in our land. Let us pray… PRAYERS Our Heavenly Father, we plead the blood of Jesus upon Nigeria for atonement and redemption. Forgive the sins of our forefathers. Instead of judgment, let Nigeria enjoy your mercy. In the mighty name of Jesus, we prophesy that Nigeria will enter into a season of flourishing! Nigeria will come into a season of rising and shining! The dreams of Nigeria will come to pass in the mighty name of Jesus! Father, BRING THEM TO PASS!!! As it is written in the book of Isaiah 54, lay the stones of Nigeria in fair colors! Make her gates of carbuncles, her windows of agates and all her borders of pleasant stones! Righteousness exalts a nation; Father, establish Nigeria in Righteousness! Let Nigeria be taught of the Lord and make the peace of Nigeria GREAT! Let Nigeria be far from oppression and terror. Deliver Nigeria from the terror of Boko Horam! Remove Ebola far from Nigeria. Let all those who have gathered together against Nigeria fall for her sake! As they come against her one way, let them flee before her seven ways! We decree that NO WEAPON formed against Nigeria shall prosper and that every tongue that rises against her SHALL BE DESTROYED!!! The Lord gave the word; great is the company of those that published it (Psalm 68:11)
