DRRM INTEGRATION TO THE SUMMER TUTORIAL CULMINATING ACTIVITY by Prof Divina Gracia R. Galang from THE HARVEST Traditional academic competition, fun-games and awarding of the yearly summer tutorial culminating activity was integrated for the first time by a campaign on Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) entitled, “Sandata sa Panahon ng Sakuna”, last May 21, 2013 in CBSUA Pasacao Campus. The activity aimed to introduce climate change and disaster mitigation to the participants of the event who were composed of children, the student volunteer tutors and parents. In the Third year of the Culminating Activity under the CBSUA Pasacao Extension Office, the summer tutorial beneficiaries gathered in one day for the above-mentioned celebration. It included a discussion on climate change by Prof Michael Nolasco, a CBSUA Pasacao, Science Instructor and the disasters topic introduced by F02 Dario L. Panerio, Chief Fire Safety Educator and F01 Julan M. Bolalin. The training aimed to equip the children with proper awareness to different disasters and the necessary technique for survival to save their own lives. The speakers urged the children to share their knowledge on Climate Change and Disaster Risk Preparedness to their playmates, school mates and family as they go back to their places in Tinalmud Viejo, Macad, Caranan, Sta. Rosa del Norte, Sta. Rosa Del Sur, San Cirilo, Bahay, Quitang and Veneracion.
