DRY LAND Janice and Brandon walked from their lake house. Years - TopicsExpress

DRY LAND Janice and Brandon walked from their lake house. Years ago the water greeted them at the end of their sidewalk. But now, after two years of very little rain, they could walk on dry land to their boat. They had purchased the home years ago to live by the water. Now? Dry land. Life can feel like that in others ways. You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water (Psalm 63:1). David wrote his confession in prayer, using the metaphor of dry land. The psalm reveals thirst, craving, desire, and need. People often misinterpret needs, assuming that a natural rain, a relational renewal, or a financial blessing will provide all the moisture a person needs. David saw beyond that. From the desert in Judah, David saw beyond the natural dryness. His prayer declared his craving for the true filling he desired—God. Thought for Today: When the land of life feels dry and weary, God can hear our cries and supply our needs. Quicklook: Psalm 63:1–11 714movement.org
