DYLAN WORSHIP: More than 50 years after he first started attracting fanatical followers, Bob Dylan can now read a book about his most obsessive devotees, the same people to whom he has disdainfully said on more than one occasion, “Get a real life.” The Pulitzer Prize-winning author and Dylan cultist David Kinney has written “The Dylanologists: Adventures in the Land of Bob,” which chronicles diehards like Mitch Blank, whose apartment is a veritable Dylan museum, and A. J. Weberman, who sifted through Dylan’s garbage cans in search of anything that might help him understand the meaning of Dylan’s song lyrics. In this video, David Kinney offers some insight into why the enigmatic Dylan has been the subject of fixation and intense scrutiny over the years. Incidentally, “The Dylanologists: Adventures in the Land of Bob” has been placed on order by the Pasadena Public Library, and will soon be available for checkout through the Allendale Branch.
