Da Capo Virginia, a Richmond based non profit inclusionary music school, is searching for a Director for our flagship choral ensembles...Animato (grades 3-6) and Cantare (grades 7-12). Da Capo Virginia offers musical training in a community based, passion driven approach via choruses, private instruction, coaching, small ensembles and public performances directly to the Richmond Va region and beyond. Our mission is to provide transforming music experiences that inspire and capture passion, equip through exceptional, dynamic instruction, and champion sharing music’s profound effect with one’s community. This part-time contract position runs September to May, throughout the instructional/performance year. Responsibilities include: *REHEARSALS: Direct weekly 90-minute rehearsals vocal development, blend, breathing musical skill development (sight reading, form, dynamics, note names, phrasing) assist with repertoire selection teach repertoire for concert preparation educate on session lens (i.e. jazz, opera, sacred) coordinate joint rehearsals with other Da Capo ensembles work cooperatively with newly formed Martinsville, VA site for joint events *CONCERTS: Lead/Execute all concerts and outreach events finale events, hospital/assisted living facility concerts, community concerts Mini-tour programs, possible overnight excursions *RECRUITING: Seek and secure new students and advocates Establish connection with local musicians, teachers, directors, etc Assist with local fairs, festivals where Da Capo is represented *SOCIAL MEDIA UPDATES: Regular updates to Da Capo’s social media sites, Including the blog, Facebook page, and Twitter using photos and video uploads The successful candidate(s) will exude passion, discipline, and application in their approach to community music making.
