Dad update Many of you have been asking how my dad is doing since he had his back survey about a year ago to remove cancer from his lower back. So I thought it would be appropriate to recap and update as time is growing short for him. About 4 years ago he had the upper left lob of his lung removed for cancer. Didnt know where it came from. Within a year it metastasized to the base of his brain where he had surgery to remove it. Fast forward to last fall the original lung cancer metastasized to his lower back which mad it very difficult to walk on his own. After every surgery he never had the cancer reappear in that location which was great. This past summer he has taken a decline. Where he needed more help moving around. The muscles were there the just didnt respond to his commands right away. Within the past 6 weeks he has taken a very serious decline. I visited him the middle of last month and his legs were completely useless. He is bedridden at home. Hospice was called in to evaluate and monitor. Mom hired a nurse to help a few hours a day to do thing like help change sheets, cleanup, whatever. She really wished the lady knew how to pressure wash the driveway LOL. The nurse has really been a Godsend with her willingness to do anything around the house to help. Recently there have been some moments where mom thought he was being called home to Jesus. Not yet, but we feel the time is near. He sleeps a lot. Luckily my brother Rob lives very close and is available when needed. Unfortunately I am 6 hours away but did get to spend quality time with him last month. So that is where we are. He is not suffering or in any pain, but is very weak and Mom, Rob, and I are prepared. Mom, Dad, Rob, and I are all believers in Christ and know the God is in control in the end. So my request/prayer is the he remains comfortable and when the time comes for him to be fully healed that we all can celebrate what a wonderful life he gave as a Son, Husband, Father, and God willing Grandfather if he can hold out till Everleigh is born to Rob and Cinnamon.
