Marin Katusa: They have tried, and they continue to fail. Putin is moving his agenda forward by signing major energy deals, such as the $400 billion natural gas deal with China. Another example is the Iranian nuclear deal. The West has imposed economic sanctions, which have made life difficult for Russian companies, but ironically, have also hurt major companies in Germany. The sanctions have fostered a Sino-Russia alliance, a bad development for Europe in many ways.
