Daily Bible 2014 24 Mon Mar Caesar’s One, God’ One [ Matthew 22:15 - 22:22 ] (Hymm37) The Pharisees and the Herodians tried to test Jesus by asking Him about a sensitive issue regarding the poll tax. In response, Jesus told them to “render to Caesar the things that are Caesars, and to God the things that are Gods.” 가이사의 것, 하나님의 것 바리새인과 헤롯 당원들은 당시 민감한 사안이었던 세금 문제로 예수님을 시험했고, 예수님은 그들에게 ‘가이사의 것은 가이사에게, 하나님의 것은 하나님께 바치라’고 하셨습니다. Summing up 15. Then the Pharisees went out and laid plans to trap him in his words. 16. They sent their disciples to him along with the Herodians. Teacher, they said, we know you are a man of integrity and that you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. You arent swayed by men, because you pay no attention to who they are. 17. Tell us then, what is your opinion? Is it right to pay taxes to Caesar or not? 18. But Jesus, knowing their evil intent, said, You hypocrites, why are you trying to trap me? 19. Show me the coin used for paying the tax. They brought him a denarius, 20. and he asked them, Whose portrait is this? And whose inscription? 21. Caesars, they replied. Then he said to them, Give to Caesar what is Caesars, and to God what is Gods. 22. When they heard this, they were amazed. So they left him and went away. 15. 이에 바리새인들이 가서 어떻게 하면 예수를 말의 올무에 걸리게 할까 상의하고 16. 자기 제자들을 헤롯 당원들과 함께 예수께 보내어 말하되 선생님이여 우리가 아노니 당신은 참되시고 진리로 하나님의 도를 가르치시며 아무도 꺼리는 일이 없으시니 이는 사람을 외모로 보지 아니하심이니이다 17. 그러면 당신의 생각에는 어떠한지 우리에게 이르소서 가이사에게 세금을 바치는 것이 옳으니이까 옳지 아니하니이까 하니 18. 예수께서 그들의 악함을 아시고 이르시되 외식하는 자들아 어찌하여 나를 시험하느냐 19. 세금 낼 돈을 내게 보이라 하시니 데나리온 하나를 가져왔거늘 20. 예수께서 말씀하시되 이 형상과 이 글이 누구의 것이냐 21. 이르되 가이사의 것이니이다 이에 이르시되 그런즉 가이사의 것은 가이사에게, 하나님의 것은 하나님께 바치라 하시니 22. 그들이 이 말씀을 듣고 놀랍게 여겨 예수를 떠나가니라 Who is God like? Thinking & Understanding Who is God? Vv. 17, 21 Jesus recognized the paying of taxes was legitimate. This meant that Christians must fundamentally obey the laws of the world (Ro. 13:1-7). Do we obey the rules of the society in which we live? Let us consider that obeying the rules of society is obeying the laws of God. 예수님은 세금 납부가 합법적인 것임을 인정하셨습니다. 이처럼 그리스도인은 기본적으로 세상 법을 따라야 합니다(롬 13:1-7). 나는 세금이나 교통법규를 비롯하여 내가 속한 곳에서 규칙을 잘 지킵니까? 그것이 하나님의 법을 잘 지키는 것이라고 생각하면서 준수하십시오. Thinking & Understanding The Pharisees sent their disciples and the Herodians to ask Jesus if it was right to pay tax to Caesar (the Emperor of Rome). Their intention was to criticize Jesus, if He said it was right; or inform the Roman government if He said it was not (vv. 15-17). Jesus knew their intentions, and asked them to show Him the coin for the tax. On the coin was the image and inscription of Caesar. Jesus told them to pay Caesar the things that were Caesar’s, and to God the things that were God’s (vv. 18-22). 바리새인들은 자기 제자들과 헤롯 당원들을 예수님께 보내어 로마 황제에게 세금을 바치는 것이 옳은지 물었습니다. 만일 예수님이 옳다고 하시면 이스라엘 편에서 예수님을 비난하고, 반대로 옳지 못하다고 하시면 로마 정부의 편에서 고소할 목적이었습니다(15-17절). 그들의 속셈을 아시는 예수님은 그들에게 세금으로 내는 돈을 보여 달라고 하셨습니다. 돈에는 황제 가이사의 얼굴과 이름이 새겨져 있었는데, 예수님은 가이사의 것은 가이사에게 주고, 하나님의 것은 하나님께 바치라고 말씀하셨습니다(18-22절). What lesson is God teaching me? Vv. 15-16 The Pharisees and the Herodians were enemies who despised each other, but they became united when they plotted against Jesus. Depending on their interests, today’s enemies can be tomorrow’s friends in this world. However, when it comes to defying God, true friends are always on the same side. Therefore, it is impossible to be friends with the world as well as being a friend of God (Jas. 4:4). 평소에는 서로 질시하며 앙숙이던 바리새인과 헤롯 당원들이 예수님을 곤경에 빠뜨려 제거하는 데는 한목소리를 냈습니다. 세상은 자기 이해관계에 따라 오늘의 적이 내일의 친구가 되기도 하지만, 하나님을 대적하는 일에는 늘 같은 편이 됩니다. 그러니 세상과 친구하면서 하나님의 벗이 되는 길은 없습니다(약 4:4). Prayer We confess that You, God, are our only Lord. Please help us to accept You as the only Lord in our lives.
