Daily Blog - 3/5/2014: Again, its Wednesday night and Im sinking. Normally, I draft me a blog with Microsoft Word, proofread, spellcheck, etc. Tonight, Im flying without a net, typing directly in the post window so here goes... Been thinking a lot about Lynn Broadway today. I title this, The Big Bowling Game of Life. One thing about Lynn that everybody that knows him knows about-- Lynn was one great bowler. He was a legend at Paris Lanes. One thing I kept thinking about over and over today was that I never got a opportunity to bowl with him. Im sure that had I TOOK the opportunity to ask him, he wouldve been glad to. He was passionate about it. Im sure Lynn probably bowled several perfect games in his life. For me, Im lucky if I can bowl 150. Really, every bowling game in theory is a quest to have the perfect game; to land a strike every time. That said, of all the times Ive bowled, Ive never thought that way though, but that is the ultimate object of the game. Same for golf. Everyones trying to make par. In the end, some of the best times are hanging out with friends who are equally inadequate as you are at whatever youre doing. My funnest times on the golf course have been with a bunch of guys who shoot 50s, and i enjoy cosmic bowling more than regular bowling. Still, there is something to be said about spending time with an expert, virtuoso, master, professional, etc. You learn things that way. In short, theyll make you better. Thats what its all about. Bettering yourself, and making others better-- not tearing yourself down or others. An average day for me kinda mirrors my average bowling game. I may hit a couple of strikes. Probably throw a couple gutter balls. Definitely leave a few pins standing. Im not really trying to bowl you over with this blog tonight. Just want you to think about it a little... Life is like a vapor. You only get so many frames, and then sooner or later, its the 11th frame. Its how you played the game that matters. Not what you couldve done, or wouldve done. The sweeper clears the lane one last night, then the light goes out. All thats left are memories and impressions. Lynn Broadway left a lasting impression on everyone. Believe it or not, you will too. What kind of impression will you leave? PEACE!!! L2theB lancebailey.org/blog.html
