Daily Devotion by Raul Ries SUNDAY, May 18, 2014 Tactics of Satan 1 Samuel 7:5-6 And Samuel said, Gather all Israel to Mizpah, and I will pray to the LORD for you. So they gathered together at Mizpah, drew water, and poured it out before the Lord. And they fasted that day, and said there, We have sinned against the LORD. And Samuel judged the children of Israel at Mizpah. Samuel summoned all the people. He was their intercessor. He would stand for the people before the Lord. Samuel was like Moses, standing before the Lord for the people and speaking to the people for the Lord. Then, notice, when they repented, they also fasted. They denied their physical needs in order to focus on their spiritual needs. There was a battle for souls, and they had to be wholly focused on the Lord. I have to warn you, whenever you decide to do something for the Lord, Satan is going to come after you big time, believe me. Satan wants to discourage you. He wants to disqualify you from ministry. He wants to bring you down and take you out of serving God, any way he can. I am not trying to frighten you. I am warning you of Satans tactics. We have to always remember; God is in control and He will do whatever He wants to do with our lives. When my time is up, it is up. I am not even going to strive; I do not even want to live one day more or one day less. Satan does not number our days, God does. We can allow Satan to take us down, but he can only do it if we allow it. If you keep your eyes on the Lord, you do not have to worry about Satan. Satan has only a persuading sleight, not an enforcing might. -Thomas Brooks-
