Daily Devotional Hundreds of Dresses Sunday, August 10th, 2014 Read Matthew 25:14-30 The master said, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!” - Matthew 25:23 (NIV) When I was a child my mother taught me to sew, but at that age I considered those sewing projects drudgery. Then a couple of years ago, God made me aware of a need through an international relief organization and of my responsibility to use my skills to bless others. So I called my mom, and together we started sewing. In two months’ time, we had 120 dresses ready to ship to Haiti. The following year, with the help of more than 50 friends and acquaintances, we sewed and shipped 440 more. I am amazed at the way God used my sewing skills to start something bigger than I could have imagined. When I used my God-given talents in this project, God helped me to bless children in another country. Over time, others were also drawn into this ongoing ministry. I don’t know how many dresses and shorts we will ship this year, but I do know that each of us is blessed when we use our talents for God’s glory. The Author Kim Harms (Iowa, USA) Thought for the Day God has bigger plans for our gifts than we can imagine. Prayer Dear Lord, help us to be aware of the talents you give us and to look for ways to use them to serve you. Amen.
