Daily Devotional Soap Box Day 10: God, thank you for today. Thank you making me learn how to be still and listen. Still dont fully understand but I dont have to understand, I just have to do it. Right? Thank you for my family, church family and friends for encouraging me during this journey. Its helped me not give up. I know youre working on something amazing for me, once I get over this hurdle. Thank you for loving me and forgiving me. In your name I pray, amen. So, as you all know, Ive been struggling with this, along with other things. Anywho, while listening to our pretty cool preacher do his thing, I came across one of my notes on the previous page from the page I was supposed to be on. It says, Let your light of God shine SO bright you light someone else on fire for God! Well, that lead me on my journey for today. LIGHT.... light is mentioned all throughout the bible, and its used in many different ways. In some forms of light, my mind takes it further. Sometimes in the wrong context. And thats ok. Genesis 1:3, the very beginning, this is where God is creating the world and everything in it, including light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. Knowing this is referring to actual light(daytime) and darkness(nighttime) my mind saw it as this, although he separated light and darkness, there still light in darkness, stars and the moon. But maybe he didnt mean separate(keep them apart) he just meant separate(two different things). Psalms 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is my stronghold of my life, whom shall I be afraid? A good many people are afraid of the dark, so what do they use when its dark? A form of light, candle, oil lamp, flashlight, etc. For many years I always thought this little light of mine, Im gonna let it shine was about a physical light(candle, after all the song does mention dont let satan blow it out) so as a dumb kid, that could be confusing. But now that Im an older dumb kid, I understand this little light I have and treasure is God! Hello! When you have the biggest light always shining inside of you, what is there to be afraid of?! My God is bigger than ANYTHING! Isaiah 60:19 says The sun will no more be your light by day, nor will the brightness of the moon shine on you, for the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory EVERLASTING LIGHT PEOPLE!!! Did you read that? For the Lord will be your EVERLASTING LIGHT...... Ephesians 5:14 says for it is light that makes everything visible. This is why it is said: wake up O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you. Get up dummy, the everlasting light is covering you, he wants inside of you so you can live in the light. John 1:4,5 says In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness but the darkness has not understood it. This verse reminds me of Summer CoSummer Conner Mordshe would tell this story, because I cant remember what all she said. The main point is, people can see God in us. He makes us glow and shine a bright light. Because why? God is everlasting light and God is in us! Thats why! John 3:19 This is the verdict: light has come into the world but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. John 8:20 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. 2 Corinthians 4:6 For God, who said let light shine out of darkness made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. 1 Peter 2:9 but you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Even better, his WONDERFUL, EVERLASTING light. 1 John 1:5 God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. AT ALL! 1 John 2:9 Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates his brother is still in darkness just because the light is shining over you, doesnt always mean its shining from within you. Now, all the way to Revelation 21:23-27 The city doesnt need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it. Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lambs book of life. youtu.be/0Ec6xT9ixGE
