Daily Family Devotions MONDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 2013 ‘A CURE FOR MY PEOPLE — ” SCRIPTURE: Jeremiah 17:14-17; Mark 2:1-7, 8-12; Acts 4:8-12 A prominent New York psychologist left his profession to enter the ministry. When someone asked him why he would leave such a lucrative career, he replied, “I am tired of diagnosing people’s problems and then telling them I have no cure. Ninety percent of my patients are breaking the moral law, and yet as a psychologist, I cannot tell them that — because most of them do not accept the reality of a divine moral law and I automatically enter the religious field when I suggest such a thing. “But the fact remains: people are suffering from a spiritual sickness — not a mental one, and until they realize that there are divine laws, that there is a God Who is the Author of these laws — and that we are all accountable to Him, offices like mine will go on being filled, and people in them will go on seeking until they finally become so accustomed to unhappiness and guilt and lack of fulfillment that they will simply stop looking and drift away. “I am entering the ministry to begin to help heal these people — and to show them God.”
