Daily Horror Overdose #5 (Repost - I was unable to tag people in the one from yesterday, so - deja-vu! D.H.O.#6 is on the way...) Last night, I was at the Coolidge Corner Theater, and I caught a midnight showing of Unearthed and Untold: The Path to Pet Sematary, with my pal, Jon Tripp. I had plans for this song to make an appearance, but I wasnt sure when. After last nights show, no other song is more fitting! At one point, they talk to one of the Ramones (it may have been Marky), and he said a copy of Pet Sematary was given to one of the other Ramones (sorry, its tough for me to remember which Ramone is which outside of Joey), and immediately upon finishing the read, wrote the title song for the film in about 40 minutes. Pet Sematary, the movie and the song, were released in 1989, and one of many things that I really miss about the 80s is songs on a soundtrack that actually tie in, and relate to the movie. Theres nothing better than hearing a song that reminds you of a movie, and makes you really want to watch said movie when the lyrics tell the tale of the film to a certain extent. It really is a lost art that essentially died after 1989. There may be an example of a movie or two in the 90s that had direct song tie-ins, but Im hard pressed to think of one right now. Also: Look for my homeboy, Tommy Tucciaroñe as Johnny Ramone in the video, haha! :) youtu.be/lHvF_ANqAic
