Daily Living with Kong Hee Staying Faithful Through Tribulations In the book of Psalms chapter 34, verse 19, we have a very poignant statement from King David of Israel. He writes, Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all. Simply put, those who are righteous before God will be afflicted with suffering. He doesnt say the wicked will be afflicted, but the righteous! Now, that flies in the face of what many people say today. They teach that if you walk righteously before God, youll NEVER encounter suffering. But is that the truth? Both Scripture as well as life experience teach us that this just isnt true... Those who are righteous will suffer. Its guaranteed in His Word! The Lords servant, Job, was a very righteous man, both morally and in his faith. He was more blameless than others, more upright than others and even feared God more than others. Yet nobody suffered like Job did in his time. He lost all of his possessions, his family and his health. And amazingly, it was God Himself who allowed Satan to bring this suffering to Job (Job 1:12)! But God knew in His infinite wisdom that there was a greater plan, a higher purpose for Jobs suffering. Through it, he was purified as he learned to lean fully on God for his well-being and not to trust in himself. And do you know what happened? God restored him and blessed him with much more than he ever had before; beyond what he couldve imagined. So if youre going through a difficult time today, stay faithful. Remember what King David said. That though many are the afflictions of the righteous, God will deliver you out of them all! Prayer for the day: Dear God, help me to remain faithful in the midst of suffering. I need full dependence on You because I know You are in control through all of my trials, and You will bring full restoration and blessing again.
