Daily NWS Threat Brief for Wednesday, 4 September, 2013 for FEMA Region 6 Key Points: Wednesday-Sunday • Upper high dominates FEMA 6 through the weekend with no discernible weather threats Tropical Outlook • A broad area of low pressure southeast of Puerto Rico is in an area where conditions are favorable for development. This system is moving northwest at 10 mph and has a 40% chance of becoming a tropical depression over the next 48 hours and a 60% chance over the next 5 days. Appears the most likely scenario for this system is to move into the Bahamas and then take a northeast turn away from the U.S. No impact to FEMA 6 expected at this time • A tropical wave over the Yucatan Peninsula is currently moving westward at 10 mph. This system has a 20% chance of becoming a tropical depression over the next 48 hours and a 20% chance of over the next five days. System expected to move into Mexico…may bring welcome rainfall into south TX late week.
