Daily Overview EUR/USD (Bloomberg) The euro climbed 0.3 percent to $1.3407 at 5 p.m. New York time after dropping to $1.3296 on Nov. 7, the lowest level since Sept. 16. The 17-nation currency added 0.4 percent to 132.94 yen. The dollar gained 0.1 percent to 99.16 yen. USD/CAD (Bloomberg) The loonie, as the Canadian dollar is known for the image of the waterfowl on the C$1 coin, was little changed at C$1.0476 per U.S. dollar at 5:00 p.m. in Toronto. One loonie purchases 95.46 U.S. cents.Canadas dollar rose versus 9 of its 16 most-traded counterparts tracked by Bloomberg, including sterling and the Australian dollar. Gold (Bloomberg) Bullion for immediate delivery was at $1,281.81 an ounce at 9:15 a.m. in Singapore from $1,282.80 yesterday, when the metal fell for a third day to $1,279.16, the lowest since Oct. 17. SILVER (Bloomberg) Spot silver lost 0.2 percent to $21.382 an ounce, dropping for a fourth day. Prices declined to $21.2503 yesterday, the lowest level since Oct. 17.Platinum was little changed at $1,432.58 an ounce after reaching $1,425.48 yesterday, also the lowest since Oct. 17. Palladium decreased 0.2 percent to $752.90 an ounce. WTI (Crude Oil) (Bloomberg) WTI for December delivery dropped as much as 32 cents to $94.82 a barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract was at $94.83 at 2:11 p.m. Sydney time. It advanced 0.6 percent to $95.14 yesterday, the highest close since Oct. 31. The volume of all futures traded was about 62 percent below the 100-day average.Brent for December settlement declined as much as 23 cents, or 0.2 percent, to $106.17 a barrel on the London-based ICE Futures Europe exchange. The European benchmark crude was at a premium of $11.34 to WTI. The spread was $11.26 yesterday, the widest based on closing prices in four days.
