Daily Overview USDJPY (Bloomberg) The yen lost 0.2 percent to 97.93 per dollar as of 11:49 a.m. in Tokyo. Japanundefineds currency weakened 0.1 percent to 133.95 per euro. The shared currency traded at $1.3678 from $1.3687 on Oct. 18, when it touched $1.3704, the highest since Feb. 1. GBP/USD (Bloomberg) The pound rose 1.45 percent in the week to $1.6188 as of 4:53 p.m. London time yesterday, the biggest gain since the five-day period ended Sept. 13. It rose as high as $1.6225 yesterday, the most since Oct. 3. Sterling gained 0.4 percent in the week to 84.60 pence per euro. Gold (Bloomberg) Gold futures for December delivery fell 0.6 percent to settle at $1314.60 an ounce at 1:38 p.m. on the Comex in New York. Earlier, the price reached $1328.90, the highest for a most-active contract since Oct. 8.Gold has slumped 22 percent this year, heading for the first annual decline since 2000. SILVER (Bloomberg) Silver futures for December delivery fell 0.2 percent to $21.913 an ounce. The price has tumbled 28 percent this year. WTI (Crude Oil) (Bloomberg) WTI for November, which expires tomorrow, was at $100.91 a barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange, up 10 cents, at 1:09 p.m. Sydney time. It rose 14 cents to $100.81 on Oct. 18. The more-actively traded December contract climbed 10 cents to $101.21 a barrel. The volume of all futures traded was about 48 percent below the 100-day average. Prices are 9.9 percent higher this year.
