Daily devotion for August 12 from Search My Heart O God by Kay Arthur: Beloved, how sensitive are you to sin? We enjoy hearing about God’s love, but we tend to skip over the fact that God is righteous and holy, a God of wrath. His heart is grieved when we tolerate sin in our midst, closing our eyes to it in our own lives and in our own churches. God will not let our rebellion go unanswered; His character will not allow it. Our holy, immutable God tells us in His Word that, “if we judged ourselves rightly, we would not be judged. But when we are judged, we are disciplined by the Lord so that we will not be condemned along with the world” (1 Corinthians 11:31-32). Oh beloved, don’t take this lightly. Watch what enters your mind. Watch your desires. Bring every emotion to Him, if it’s not in accord with His Word, reject it. Keep your heart pure! Determine what is sin! Have nothing to do with it! Prayer: Lord God, break my heart with the things that break Your heart. Purify me, and eliminate any shred of rebellion or sin in my life. I want to walk in integrity, blameless before You. Amen.
