Daily update for January 15, 2014: Warrant - Highland - While on patrol Officer Zobell observed a vehicle parked at a local business. Inside the vehicle was a female whom was slumped forward. Officer Zobell ran a records check and was able to determine the female inside the vehicle had a warrant for DUI. Contact was made with the female and she was arrested. A search of the vehicle revealed a prescription pill not in a bottle. The female claimed she had a prescription for the pill but a search of the database that would show that information showed she did NOT have a prescription.(Big surprise) Field Sobriety Tests were conducted and the female showed little sign of impairment. The female was booked into jail on her warrant, possession of a schedule IV drug and improper packaging or labeling of a prescription. Keys - Highland - Officer Farnsworth unlocked a vehicle for a citizen who had locked their keys in their car. Animal Problem - Alpine - An Alpine resident called in to report a neighbors dog that continually barked outside. ACO Shadoan made contact with the dog owner and explained the noise ordinance to her. Officer Shadoan also found the dog was not licensed with the city as required. The dog owner advised she would make sure to take care of the dog when it barks and get it licensed. This was a case where the dogs bark was worse than its bite. Questions - Alpine/Highland - Several citizens called to speak with officers regarding questions they had. One regarding questions about rehab for his child, another had questions regarding a civil matter and the third was someone who had questions regarding his mother-in-law and her being mean to him. Officers did their best to assist all the citizens questions, complainants and concerns. This is a job where we wear many hats. Most times we are an enforcer of the law but sometimes we are a psychiatrist, sometimes an attorney, sometimes an advice columnist and sometimes we are just someone to listen to someones problems. Keep the Peace - Highland - Officers stood by while an individual obtained some personal items from a residence where there is a protective order against them. The items were obtained without incident. Tour - Highland - Officer Miller conducted a scout tour at the police station.
