Damodara Program - Easy, Effective, Enjoyable. By The Congregational Development MInistry “I saw with my own eyes how in 30 days the Malaysian devotees reached more than 100,000 people.” –H.H. Bhanu Swami This outreach initiative involves a group of devotees organizing regular visits to different places to perform the worship of Lord Damodara. Whether at homes, schools, on harinama, yoga schools or wherever suitable, devotees simply chant, read and offer lamps to the Lord. The beauty of this program is that by encouraging others to take part, everyone benefits immensely. In Malaysia, this program has been going on for nearly 15 years. They started with less than 30 homes and have reached many thousands in recent years. The growth is exponential with tremendous positive response from the public. This inclusive program breaks social barriers between the masses and ISKCON; influences the public opinion of our movement, especially for those who are very skeptical and inimical towards us. It is an easy and guaranteed way to comfortably enter almost every home and it is only a month’s effort of preaching. This Damodara program touches the hearts of thousands of people and engages them in the Lords service through the offering of ghee lamps. It also engages all participating devotees in preaching and helps to build good relations with the public. It is one of the best methods to deliver the Holy Name to everyone. Through this wonderful program, temples make thousands of contacts. Several of them, become committed devotees or well-wishers and friends. Damodara programs have provided a much needed platform for many other Yatras like Indonesia, Singapore, India, Mauritius, South Africa, Middle East, New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong and others to outreach effectively to many people. It can be conducted in many places such as homes, public schools, universities, temples, shopping malls, etc. We strongly encourage everybody to please take up this wonderful program and ignite the fire of love for Krsna in the hearts of all.
