Daniel Estrada is correct! 442 N Summit Ave was built in 1895 for Willis M. Eason by Greene & Greene structures. Willis M Eason was bookkeeper at the Union Savings Bank, while his father Robert (who owned the property next door) was president. The Colonial Revival Style structures pediment is decorated with a stereo relief (an application of a three-dimensional plaster ornament such a wreath, garland, or medallion), a feature common in the Greenes work until 1899. In 1895, the Greenes built the Willis Eason House. Even though it is a small house, the Eason House has some touches of the beaux-arts style that Charles and Henry had learned in Boston. The brothers may also have remembered seeing the impressive beaux-arts style of the buildings at the worlds fair in Chicago. The Eason House has a prominent triangular roof, classical Greek columns, and plaster decorations. All of these design elements were borrowed from older buildings. Over the next few years, Charles and Henry would design more houses with similar design elements (Greene & Greene for Kids, Kathleen Thorne-Thomsen) If your interested in learning more about architectural styles and how to research historic structures, check out our seminar this Saturday! https://pasadenaheritage.org/products.php?cid=53
