Daniel Turnbull, for fairness Im sharing this on my timeline too. My response, although I appreciate your comment that you do not feel qualified to argue, is as follows. First, these pictures symbolise the tragedy of this whole situation, there can not been anyone who would feel anything else but sorrow for such needless loss of innocent life. It really is madness. However, and i guess you knew that word was coming, the fact remains that the palestinian people themselves democratically elected Hamas as apposed to Fatah, knowing the intentions of Hamas, a movement who have built an armoury of rockets for the sole purpose to aggravate the kind of response they have now received. If I kept tapping you with my finger on your nose, maybe the first few times you may ignore it, maybe after a while you will throw your arms about but it wouldnt be unnatural if you eventually did something to stop me. Now I am sure you must know that such gruesome images exist from atrocities resulting from suicide bombings on public buses and places in Israel from some years back. Unfortunately I dont have those images as just with similar pictures from situations like 9/11 or 6/7, in our society we dont use them as part of our propaganda. Neither do we carry our dead in open stretchers down the street shouting promises of revenge and Alah Akbar. Now of course the Palestinians are expressing their despair and grief in their particular way, but as a liberal non zionist who shares the view that they should have their own independent country, my opinion is that it is Hamas that has allowed the opportunity they have had to build their own (unoccupied gaza) land to be waisted on the singular mission to destroy Israel. All the resources used to stock pile missiles and build tunnels, (which by the way were built mainly by children, 160 of which have lost their lives over the past three years according to the UN but no publicised pictures of!) could have been used to build bomb shelters, underground bunkers as well as normal infrastructure. I forgot to mention that pictures like those you have posted and significantly worse can be found very easily by searching words like syria children, iraq children. Those images are far far worse and the numbers killed, necks cut with knives on video, piles of bodies as far as the eye can see are in the 100s of 1000s. You see it is indisputable that Israel is intentionally killing these innocence, it simply wouldnt make sense that they would because the reaction does no favours for Israel and is great political point making for their enemy. Yes, possibly Israel may occasionally be reckless but and criticism must be consistent with other events going on right now or in very recent years throughout the world. That will do for now.
