Danny Dyer was welcomed onto Albert Square with open arms at the end of last year. The 36-year-old took on the role of Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter and has since admitted EastEnders bosses took a risk when they signed him up for the job. The Football Factory actor, who has in the past been stereotyped for his hard man image, believes the typecast is what makes his character more appealing. Danny explained: “They have to understand that they’ve brought me into the show for my brand and there’s a side effect of that. They’re taking a risk with me and that’s what’s going to make it exciting,” he added. Today, it was reported that the Walford newcomer had been warned by show bosses to tone down his bad boy persona. But an EastEnders spokesperson has since rubbished the claims, exclusively telling OK! Online: Theres no truth in the story that Danny is or has been in trouble with EastEnders bosses. After joining the cast in December, the dad-of-two has revealed theres snobbery amongst other posh BBC stars. “There’s definitely some snobbery. You’ve got actors like Benedict Cumberbatch, a great actor, but he’s a posh boy playing posh boys, he said. “He does it well, and he doesn’t get mocked for that. I play working class people and I get mocked for it, he added. “I’ve done plays at the National Theatre, come off stage and gone into the bar and I ain’t got nothing in common with those people, Danny finished.
