Dante update: For the last 2 days, his numbers have been going up. Not fast, but up, which is definitely good. His platelets are over 100 again, as of today, but his red blood cells are still below 20. We are going to be upping the Atopica tomorrow, to try to make the movement a little more dramatic. His stomach is upset, and he throws up sometimes, but were learning when to feed him, how much, etc. to minimize that. He seems to do better in the afternoons. Today, Jeremy thought of how sad he seems to be, and realized we were not giving him his Tramadol, because we have to pry his mouth open to give him 7-8 pills in the morning and evening, and we didnt want to mix anything more in there. He asked the vet if we could reintroduce that to him (hes been on it for over a year now, regularly) and they said we could - and it made a huge difference! He is a little wobbly/loopy, but when I came home today, he wagged his tail for me for the first time since he came home on Saturday! Like, not a halfhearted wag, but a full on thump thump thump on the floor! I almost cried. When he got up to get a drink of water I went out with him so he could pee, and he decided to go into the lower pond today, rather than the small basin off the waterfall. He needed some help getting out, but I dont mind that one bit. Small victories today. I am hoping the increased Atopica doesnt wreak too much havoc on him tomorrow. The vet has said we can bring him in for bloodwork every other day, rather than every day now. Fingers are cautiously crossed.
