Daria and I arrived in England yesterday after a long day of travel by train from Scotland. Manchester is an industrial town, so not quite as pretty as the cities in Scotland. The blessing is seeing what God is doing here in churches led by fearless and extraordinary everyday people. We visited the Message Trust today, a charity that includes a ministry called “Eden network”, a ministry that sends teams to live and minister in the poorest neighborhoods in England. These teams have been effective at sharing the gospel in life, such that cities around the world are inviting them to start up ministries. The Sheffield Chief of Police is on their board. This is because crime goes down, employment goes up, schools improve and the neighborhood is cleaner and healthier with a “ team”. I also visited their restaurant, the “recycled bicycles” shop, their automotive repair shop and their hair salon. All these shops employ former inmates who are transitioning to new lives. This is just part of the Message Trust. I am praying about how God will use what I am learning for our life at Advent. Love to all back home!
