Date: 13th November, 2014 General Manager, SCR Felicitates Star Railway Athlete K. Manikanta Raj Shri P.K.Srivastava, General Manager, South Central Railway congratulated K.Manikanta Raj, International Athlete, employed on Vijayawada Division of SCR for his recent achievements in top level track and field events. The athlete called on the General Manager today i.e., 13th November, 2014 at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad. Shri Gajanan Mallya, Senior Deputy General Manager, SCR and President, SCR Sports Association was also present. The SCR athlete, K.Manikanta Raj put up a sterling performance in the Open National Athletic Championship held recently at New Delhi from 2nd to 5th November, 2014. In the 4 x 100 mts relay, he performed exceedingly well with the other team members, to enable Indian Railways clinch the coveted Gold Medal as winners. In the individual 100 mts event, Manikanta Raj bagged the Bronze Medal, coming 3rd with a timing of 10.68 seconds. The Star Athlete has been continuously winning Gold Medals for the last five years in Inter-Railways Championships. His performance during the last All India Railway Championships held at Chennai in September, 2014 was also remarkable. In the 100 mts sprint, he bagged the Gold and in 200 mts, he came second to take the Silver Medal. Manikanta Raj represented the Country in the Asian Track & Field Meet 2013-14 held at Pune and was also a part of the Relay team which picked up the Bronze Medal in the 4 X 100 mts relay event at the 2012-13 Asian Grand Prix held at Bangkok.
