Date: August 6 Location of the day: Amsterdam Had a great last day in Amsterdam, last day in Europe! Rode our bikes again (no crashes this time 😉), strolled the flower market, went to the Anne Frank House (incredible), and had a great last-day-in-Europe dinner. An added bonus was that I stumbled on a Pandora store and stopped in to see if they had the perfect Amsterdam charm- a bike. I didnt think they would, but they did. So excited! Plus, I got my ornament souvenir as well. (I will have to do a picture of all my ornament souvenirs). I can hardly believe we are flying home tomorrow. The time flew by, but at the same time, London (our first stop) seemed like a lifetime ago. It was such an incredible, fabulous trip! Favorites of the day: Loved the Anne Frank House, but really loved going to dinner and reminiscing about the last six weeks. Bummer of the day: it rained today! Guess thats a sign that its time to go home. Also- I have to pack to go home. Ive accumulated a lot of souvenirs and Im trying to think how in going to get everything we brought, plus the souvenirs, into three carry-ons. I think I will be leaving a lot of my toiletries behind! Wish me luck! Trivia of the day: Did you know that Anne Frank was only one month short of being liberated? She and her sister died of typhoid fever in Auschwitz concentration camp, and one month later, it was liberated. So close to freedom! 8 people hid in the house for two years before they were captured and sent to concentration camps. Only one survived- her dad. Another boy died in Mauthausen concentration camp- the one we visited in Austria. Tomorrows agenda: Heading home! Heres what Im not looking forward to- laundry, unpacking, going through mail & bills, and flying (really not looking forward to flying, Really really hate it)! Heres what I am looking forward to- laundry in a machine and not a sink, our cute dog Luna, regular-sized bathrooms (European bathrooms are SO small... especially showers... Pat looked like Buddy the elf in the shower scene), my own bed, cold water, ICE, and seeing friends & family! * Ill do a final post and pictures tomorrow before we fly out. Off to pack...
