Date: Tuesday 3rd December 2013 Location: COSATU House Lunch: 13h00 – 14h00 Roundtable: 14h00 – 16h00 War has raged in Sudan’s South Kordofan and Blue Nile states for over two years. Whilst the humanitarian situation worsens day by day, the fighting is set to increase as President Bashir vows to clamp down on the rebels. Having been key to preventing conflict between Sudan and South Sudan in the past, South Africa has a crucial role to play in supporting an end to this violence. A delegation of respected Sudanese civil society leaders will be visiting South Africa during the first week of December. COSATU is joining with SAFIS to host a round-table discussion for South African civil society leaders to meet with this Sudanese delegation. The event aims to look at the challenges and opportunities for South African civil society in supporting their Sudanese and South Sudanese comrades.
