Dave Edgar gave me the # 12! - Man I love this so much! 1. My sister and I trade Pink Flamingo gifts for Christmas - it is always a challenge as to who will give the “best” gift… I usually win! - But I always love what she give me! 2. I encountered a ghost at Oak Alley Plantation one steamy July evening in the 80s when I was working on a professional dinner theatre production out there… 3. I have various nicknames to include - but not limited to: Moma Lea, Nanan, and Spicy Pickle. 4. I love to knit - and I knit a sweater for my sister while I was studying in France for a year in University - talk about learning new vocabulary! 5. The most bizarre instance I was requested to assist anyone in the capacity of Interpreter in the Army was in the pelvic exam of an HIV + 8 month pregnant Haitian woman who was having abdominal pains - to see if she was in labor. This was being done by the clinic nurse of the HIV+ camp where I worked in charge of morale, in GTMO, Cuba in ’92. The Air Force nurse asked me to be her Interpreter because she didn’t want one of the “Official Linguists” of the camp in there with her - who were all Haitian males in our military. I had never learned the vocabulary in French associated with pregnancy or a pelvic exam, much less in Haitian Creole! But, I am never one to back down from a challenge, nor to leave a fellow female military person hanging! Thank goodness that lady was not in labor and I was able to explain everything to that sweet Haitian woman along the way - she was just fine - merely ligament pain from the baby growing so fast from proper nutrition! 6. I HAD to do wine tasting for grades for BOTH of my Bachelor’s degrees! ;) French and Culinary Arts! 7. I have had at least 6 marriage proposals in my life… and a couple of those came with death threats - nice… 8. I am 48 and I do not have gray hair - I have brown, orange, and various shades of blue, purple, pink, and plum - but no gray yet! 9. I drove a red (actually 2) Miata convertible for 20 years - ahhhhh - my nephew is driving it (the second one) now! 10. I have an ivy plant growing in a hanging basket my dad gave me back in 1997 - I also have a couple of Christmas Cactus plants in hanging baskets that I rooted from a mother plant a student gave me for Christmas when I taught French back in 1997. I love plants! All of them have traveled from Cut Off to New Orleans to Billings, Montana and back to Cut Off over the years! 11. I saw Frank Sinatra in concert with my Moma at the Super Dome in New Orleans in 1983 - Ole Blue Eyes was marvelous! 12. I have holes in my brain and I inject really expensive medicine into my body every night in the hopes that more dont form...
